If you were brought up to not express your needs. Or if your needsnwere deemed not important, inconvenient, or burdensome, you probablynhave trouble expressing your needs as an adult.

This can have destructive effects. If we aren’t comfortablenexpressing our needs, we won’t be able to be intimate with others. Wenwill feel unworthy or too much trouble. n

If we haven’t learned expressing needs is ok, then we will stuffnour feelings down with whatever coping mechanism we learned. Whethernit be food, alcohol, pills, sex, etc. n

To access these feelings creating space, then making them ok, andnthen expressing them in writing or verbally is key.
